These are pictures of my (new!) Monarch 10EE lathe purchased July 2005. There are photos of testing the lathe and moving the lathe. Test Results - Indicated tailstock spindle .001” drop - Indicated flat tailstock way with carriage .001” drop over the bed. - Pulled up on test bar to check spindle play. Indicator needle just perceptibly moved. Estimate .0002” deflection. - Cut test bar 1” aluminum rod. Detected .0005” taper in 4”. Machine cut a mirror finish on the test bar. - Spindle acceleration & deceleration impressive. - No strange noises in any speeds or feeds Machine issues - High backlash in compound screw .050” - Taper attach bed clamp missing - Backgear sightglass empty Moving - Used Chevrolet Trailblazer & UHaul “RO” 6x12 all-steel open trailer - Drove in trans position “3” instead of “D” - Loaded machine on 4x6 timbers & ½” carriage thru-bolts - 2 ton gantry hoist used for unload into my shop.
