The attached photo's are of the gearbox of our Cincinnati Mill which seized recently. An appeal to Alt.Rec.Metalwork for information was well rewarded. Today, we pulled it apart further and found that the end nut on a countershaft had become loose allowing the shaft to flop loosely in the tapered bearings. we have tightened the nut, decided to live with the worn gears and will re-assemble and test it next week.
