Here are photos of my Aciera F2 and Deckel FP2NC for the Euro-Mill registry in the Deckel Forum of the Practical Machinist website. http://www.practicalmachinist.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/6/989.html Though the two mills vastly differ in size, they share the same overall design. Unlike a conventional knee mill, these mills achieve Y-axis motion by moving the spindle on a ram at the top of the main casting. The table only moves in X and Z. The face of the main table is vertical (actually at 15 degrees on the Aciera) and the work tables bolt to the face of the main tables. Both mills have both horizontal and vertical spindles. The FP2NC has two complete spindles, with quills and hydraulically actuated drawbars. The F2 has an attachment that lets you mount the entire motor, gearbox, and spindle vertically at the end of the ram. The Deckel is a CNC with a Dialog 4 control and the Aciera is strictly manual. The Deckel is German and the Aciera is Swiss.
