The following photos show the instal of a 
Heidenhain DRO on a manual Deckel FP3.

This is a two dial machine tht was built just before the 
change to two motors. 

Main group of pictures show the "Z" axis scale mounting and fitting.
Also shown are the "Y" scales and the "X" scale thta is mounted between
the slide ways.  The slide had to be modified to take the scale and 
the bracket to carry the reader head had to be built.
