This gear hobbing ttachment was built from an article in May, 2002 'HSM' magazine by Terry Sexton. Since the table of my mill cannot be rotated, I built a small auxillary table that can be offset from the main table as required. The gear train on the back of he mill, the worm/worm wheel, and the drive shaft are required to rotate the gear blank in sync with the mill spindle. Since the feed of the auxillary table is manual, I can only cut the usual spur gear and worm Wheels. I cannot cut spirals, etc. It works very well and is fast. I can cut a 16 DP, 40 tooth spur gear in about two minutes after the blank is mounted on its arbor. JimL.
