Here are some pictures of a Monarch 61 series lathe I recently acquired. This came from the Orrville, OH area and is going back to Atlanta with me. The 61 series is the next generation after the popular “C_” series of lathes that Monarch produced, and it is not short on heft. The lathe weighs ~7500 lbs @ 16x54. The lathe seems in good condition despite a quickie special ebay paint job (leadscrew has paint on it). The shop foreman said it mostly sat off to the side in the last 13 years and was used for an occasional part. It has the taper attachment with variator, but the manual-clamp tailstock (uses hex nuts to clamp to the bed). Fortunately the steady rest is present and also a bed-micrometer stop. Every shop needs a “big lathe”, right? I guess I have found it. Matt Isserstedt mattofvinings@aol.com 14Nov2006
