Torch Cooler Bob Harbour 5/3/2005 This is a torch cooler for TIG torches that I built. It was built as an excuse to practice my aluminum welding. The main commercial parts in it are the pump (a Sureflo diaphram pump) the heat exchanger (a heater core from an Olds), a Muffin Fan, the gauge and brass fittings and valves. The cap of the reservoir is a detergent bottle cap threaded onto a piece of aluminum that I turned threads into. The brass fittings on the front of the cooler under the gauge were TIG brazed to a piece of steel for mounting. After these pictures were taken, I added an aluminum pan under the whole frame to catch any leaks. I am terrible at just sitting down and practicing welding on scraps of metal, it bores me to tears. Instead, I build projects where the welding or machining is not critical and I get practice on something that has utility.
