I recently purchased a Miller Econotig and figured the best way to learn was to build a welder cart for it. I have a stick welder that I use quite a bit, and was very unhappy with the small rear wheels, and the fact that there is no storage for rods, wirebrushes, slag hammers, etc. I am very fortunate that there is a machine shop in my area that goes through a tremendous amount of aluminum. I had spoken with the owner and let him know that I had just purchased a welder (one he had recommended to me), and that I would love some scrap to practice on. He basically told me I could have anything I wanted out of his scrap bins, at any time. The cart you see pictured was made entirely from their scrap except for the wheels. The rear wheels I purchased for about $5 each, and the front casters I had laying around from an old computer rack. The cable and hose holders are all made from scrap 3/4" square tube aluminum, and 3/4" round tube aluminum, and the are removeable. Not pictured is a bottom shelf made from scrap aluminum treadplate, just like what is holding the Argon tank. All of the filler rods are in plastic pipe. The tops have been machined a little to be a little less tight. For the electrical, I have a 4 wire plug that provides me the ability to have a 100V outlet on the cart for hand tools such as drills and grinders. Since these pictures were taken I have purchased a longer cord that provides me about 50' extension from my garage. The Logo was added just as a nice touch. Mike Hoffman
