Hello There's been a discussion about weld gages on sci.engr.joining.welding about a curious weld gage at a young fellow's place of employment. I've posted a file "Weld Gauge Starret Mod.doc" that has an image of the gauge as well as a smilar gage made for us with front and back views. This particular gauge is an early model with the two halves soldered together. Current models have four screws holding the two halves. Folks were kind enough to respond to Tin Lizzie's original post with links to most of the commercial weld gauges. Here are a couple of custom models. The Starrett gauge is a modified #22C that's said to cost between $220 - 240 from Starrett. I don't know the cost of the B0440 but it's available from Action Tool Service in Hampton VA.
