Align boring equipment

Align1.JPG is a picture showing from the left a Cedar Rapids Engineering boring
outfit with 3 bars from 48" to 80" in length, also shown are the pan rail bars
used to mount the bearing supports. The boxes contain bearing supports, setting
rings, feed box, cutting & other misc tooling. Also shown in the picture is a 
Van Norman 944s cylinder boring machine (red) with tooling, and a small portable
boring machine (blue) for holes as small as 1/2" x 8" deep.

Align2.JPG shows the Cedar Rapids bar being used for a line bore (not in its' 
intended automotive use). This picture gives a clear view of the feed box (left),
the bar supports, and the bar drive (right).

Align3.JPG is another view of the bar in the setup with a little smoke rising
from the cutting tool (it really works rather well). In this application the
casting was welded with 7018 and re-machined. Depth of cut of .030" and feed rates
of .010" were no problem, the bar was turning about 450 RPM for the 1 3/4" bores.
