FILENAMES: Arm-Aloris.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a drawing of a tool holder for adapting lantern style tooling to an Aloris style toolpost. Posted by Martin H. Eastburn . Martin provided the following description: ========================================================================== This is the design of an Armstrong Holder for my Aloris tool post. Having a large investment in tooling and custom bits, I opted to design and make this holder to give me both tool holder and other bits in my Aloris. The design is rather simple, my CAD skills are superceded by a dirty mouse. I'd rather get the idea firm and defined than nit-pick on corners, and exact dimensions. Years ago I drove Autocad version 1.x, but here at home I have a low cost version of TurboCAD. Going to upgrade soon. And get a better mouse! The whole concept is for a 1" 'tall' tool holder (Medium lathe - 12") Scale up as needed. The Aloris is the AXA series. Others are 100 series. The smaller design. (As I said - if you wish - design up. I can provide the .dxf or native .tcw formatting. File format for me is best in .tcw as there is conversion on my end - either in writing, (bad for you), or in reading a foreign format (bad for me). I highly suspect it is the writing. As I can import some made by others. The block of steel is hefty. 3 x 2.5 x 1.25" . All measurements are in Inches. A standard adjustment screw is defined 3/8x24 - which can be purchased or made. The 1" (not specified here) flat nut was interesting to make. Slot this bolt lengthwise - on one side - as like others - to allow dirt to be drug from the threads. The largest task is the tall dovetail cut and the (in my case) 1" slot for the tool holder. Break the corners, sharp edges are not needed. Drill and tap for the hold down screws. Martin H.
