FILENAMES: Beta979.zip Beta979_source.zip DESCRIPTION: This is a freeware version of the "stepper motor from printer port" CNC control software written by Kevin Carroll . This software will also be placed in the shareware section as CNC979.zip where it will not be expired like files in the dropbox. Kevin provided the following description: ================================================================= I've posted Beta979 of my stepper motor CNC operating system to metalworking.com. So far it is only in the dropbox, "Beta979.zip", but it will be in the shareware section soon. I also posted the source code, written in BASIC. This is a late beta, it supports scaling and rotation, but backlash compensation during arcs is non functional and must not be enabled. The XYZ positions are updated in real time and a few "hot keys" are also read, this means a Pentium class computer is required. The program reads standard G-code commands from text files and outputs standard "step and direction" signals to a LPT port, it should work with all modern stepper motor drives. Additional features include 3 G-code selectable co-ordinate systems and tool offset storage for 10 tools. The program can also control 2 solid state relays using M03 / M05 and M08 / M09. IMPORTANT: Only this version of any software I have written or will write is freeware, I reserve all rights to any other work I do. Kevin Carroll Goshen, IN
