FILENAMES: WelldrillingBit.jpg WelldrillingSwivel.jpg DESCRIPTION: Pictures of homemade well drilling tools. Posted by Wayne Cook . Wayne provided the following description: ============================================================================== These are pictures of the swivel and drill bit I've used to test drilling feasability. As you can see the swivel is made from a steel pipe dresser sleeve. I removed the rubber packing that came with it and replaced it with 3/16" rope packing. The two large nuts are just set collars to hold the sleeve in the proper place (actually the bottom one is just a spacer and has no setscrew). The drill bit is just a 3/4" masonary that I drilled out for coolant (you can see one hole at least) and welded the collar to so I could use 1/2" pipe (not heavy enough but it worked for my testing and I had it on hand) for the drill stem. I brazed two large triangular inserts to each side of it so that it would cut a large enough hole for the collars to pass through. Wayne Cook waynec@pan-tex.net shamrock, TX
