These are pictures of ballscrew retrofit on a mill/drill.

Here are a couple of shots of the X -axis ballscrew on my mill/drill.  I
did this a couple of yrears ago, but recently took the mill table off to do
some work on it- so it looked like a good time to take some photos.  
The ballscrew material and nuts came from Rockford Ballscrew of Rockford
Illinois.  I made a mounting block from aluminum that I thought would work,
but when I put the table back on, I had interference.  So, I pulled the
block off and went to the bandsaw and butchered it up until it cleared.  So
much for the nice bevelled corners it had before! But it works.  
Special thanks to Roland Friestad of Cardinal Engineering, who wrote the
great series "Computers in the Home Shop" and "Convert your Mill/Drill to
CNC" for Home Shop Machinist.  He helped me over the phone on some of the
finer points of mill/drill conversion.
