Eric provided the following description: ========================================================================= Collet.jpg contains a picture of the collet chuck I made for ER32 Collets. I had purchased an adapter for mounting ER32 collets in the MT3 of the lathe but it did not allow long pieces to pass through the headstock of the lathe. The chuck mounts on the 1 1/2 x 8 threads of a Southbend 9" lathe. The ER32 collets have a maximum size of 3/4 inch that matches the maximum diameter that can pass through the spindle. The back is made of cast iron for ease of turning the threads. The part with the treads and taper is made for 12L14 for ease of finish. The closer threads are 1.5 mm x 40 mm. I made 37 tooth and 47 tooth gears to approximate the 1.27 ratio for metric threads. Eric Nystrom enystrom@erols.com
