FILENAMES: milltray.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a picture of a coolant catching system built by John Stevenson for his vertical mill. John provided the following description: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The accompanying file milltray.jpg shows the swarf setup that I have on my millers. I have two trays, one to allow the vise to fit as in the photo and one to allow it to fit longways on the bed. The trays are about 2" deep and have holes in them to line up with the tee slots to allow coolant to drain. On work then generates a lot of flying swarf I clip a screen made from flexible plastic to the oputside. The screen is made in three pieces and is hinged with piano hinging on the corners. To get ful enclosure I can then clip a clear poly corbonate sheet to cover the front. I went this route as I was fed up of coolant running off the ends of the vise and all over the floor. With this method I can flood cool the part and keep all the mess contained.
