FILENAMES: overload1.jpb overload2.jpg DESCRIPTION: Pictures demonstrating how to overload a pickup truck. Posted by Mike Graham . Mike provided the following description: ======================================================================== This is the poor old truck which I referred to in the "Ode to a Truck" which was posted to the metalworking group some time ago. I bought the truck for a pittance many years ago, and it has done more work than five trucks should. This shows it when I arrived in Ontario after moving all of my posessions from Alberta. I drove over 3000 miles on the bumpstops. The rear tires have 65 lbs of air in them so the rim won't meet the road too often. It was a *punishing* drive, done straight through; 48 hours of driving. The truck is loaded down with a vast variety of stuff. Visible is the 150lb punching bag, two dozen rabbit hutches, and sundry items including the Workmate and some restaurant equipment. Not visible are two motorcycles (really!) a forge and anvil (metalworking content) and 200lbs of coal (you don't move from Alberta without bringing metallurgical coal with you) along with over 1000 books. The weight of the load can only be guessed at, as I wouldn't have dared risk taking it to a weigh scale. This truck was originally red, but it has never (!) seen the inside of a garage, and the paint is now a light orangecolour. Since I found the pictures and bought a scanner, I thought I'd share them. 8-) Mike Graham mike@headwaters.com The Metal Mangler.
