FILENAMES: Colchester2.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a picture of a Colchester lathe. Posted by Nigel Eaton . Nigel provided the following description: ================================================================= This is my "new" Chipmaster in its original home. It's now going to get 'prettied up' then USED! Nigel ---------------------------- .... and later in rec.crafts.metalworking, Nigel wrote: So, I have my Colchester Chipmaster home. I moved it with a trailer and an engine crane. An absolute doddle, hardly broke a sweat! It looks like a really nice machine, the top speed of 3000 RPM sounds like fun...... It originally had a mechanical speed control, a 'variator' which was shot on this one, so I'm going to get an electronic speed control from John Stephenson and use that instead. I've posted a picture to the drop box (Colchester2.jpg) which shows its rather nasty paint scheme (actually three paint schemes), so I'm intending to spend a little time making it more aesthetically pleasing before I move the Boxford out and the Colchester in. Then all I have to do is sell the Boxford! It's much more of a machine than I've had before, although still a baby by some of the standards around here (I can change the chucks without a hoist, team of donkeys or anti-gravity device). I'm looking forward to getting it running. Cheers Nigel
