George provided the following description: ================================================================= INDHLDR.ZIP is a zip file of three gif files showing details of my very inexpensive (actually dirt cheap) dial indicator holder that I use to tram my milling machine head and drill press table. This was constructed of scraps and pieces that I had on hand. The main beam is a 8 inch piece of 5/8 X 18 Allthread (TM) rod. Use a bigger diameter if you want a stiffer beam. given the typical width of a mill table and diameter of a dripp press table this is long enough. The indicator retainer screw is simply a 1/4X20 X 1-1/2 thumb screw I got at the hardware store with two jam nuts with a lock washer between them to provide a shoulder. You can also use this with a test indicator to locate circular objects on the mill / drill table. Some what fiddly to adjust but the storebought ones with rack adjustment are about 100$$ George
