Tim provided the following description: ================================================================= Attached pics concern the TOS SN40C lathe I acquired recently. TOS-1 shows the lathe being unloaded, with the AFM machine it replaces in the foreground. Reasons for the change: the TOS has a longer bed & larger through spindle hole, & I'd been struggling more than once recently making & repairing propellor shafts which were bigger than the AFM was really designed for. Also less wear, bigger speed range anTos-2 shows the lathe inside the workshop ready for attention to the known faults. TOS-3 shows how the rest of the shop has had to be 'compacted' to make room to swap the machines round, making it pretty urgent to get the new one sorted & into place. Brief specs of new machine: 400mm swing, 1500mm BC, 600mm swing over gap speeds 22.4 - 2000 rpm spindle taper 6MT, tailstock 5MT, 52mm hole through spindle, 80mm through front spindle bearing Main motor 6KW Weight 1.75 tonnes
