Posted by Stan Stelmach . Stan provided the following description: ================================================================= This my boring head I made in the spring of 2000. I have used one type of a boring head, an inexpensive, chinese-made one and although it worked OK I felt I could design and make my own, possibly better head. I did not like some details, found even on higher end heads, US made too, like the gib where the cut section is pushed to immobilize the slide. And, I wanted a direct reading head. These are the specs: - body diameter 2.375 - OAL 5.125 - 0.500 dia bar holes @ 0.625 c/c - 0.750 offset - 0.875 dia shank - 0.375 dia 40 TPI lead screw with bronze nut - all setscrews 10-24 for 1/8 hex key, including drive - ground, close-fit gib with 3 setscrews Drawback: body made of soft steel (except shank)
