FILENAMES: newmill1.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a picture showing a helical gear being cut in a CNC mill. Posted by John Stevenson . John provided the following description: ================================================================= Well the first of the two new toys I have bought arrived on Monday night, about 10.00 pm due to the truck getting stuck in a jam / accident on the M6. I've posted a picture at http://www.metalworking.com it's listed under Newmill1.jpg It stands 8' 6" tall weighs in at around 3.5 ton and has CNC control on four axis XYZ and the knee is W. In the back ground are the two cabinets for the two millers I have bought. The slightly larger one is a Posidata 2800 for this Acton mill and the other is a Fanuc 5M for a Beaver yet to be collected. I've made a start on the cabinet by chopping off the top 4' with an angle grinder and stripping the rest. I am fitting another Ahha to this so only need the power board and the driver card rack. This will fit into the bottom 2 feet left. I'm in the process of replacing all the heavy power wiring on the board due to age and brittleness, also remounting all the stud rectifers again due to age. I've already got the Ahha boards [ thanks Ian - very promp service ] So this lot should be up and running within the week and then got to get the miller in through some 6' 2" high doors. That should be fun. Deadline for all this is the end of October if I can manage it and also do the day today work. May be tight but I've a biggish sub -con drilling job in November that will fit this larger bed better.
