FILENAMES: oldmill1.jpg oldmill2.jpg DESCRIPTION: These are pictures of an old horizontal mill that owner seeks info about. Posted by Esben Beck . Esben provided the following description: ================================================================= Hello all, I have just purchased this beautiful old universal mill from a private machine tool collection. The mill has been partly reconditioned. All the ways are scraped (hardest work is done!) and all main parts have been repainted. The mill offers just the right "feel" on the handweels on all axis. What remains to be reconditioned is the motor/flatbelt drive system and the vertical head with its beveled gears and spindle bearings (nice winter project). I'm thinking of converting the flatbelt system to a V- or poly-V belt system, in combination with a 3-phase frequency controller (which I already have). It certainly is a nice, high-quality machine, and also one of the smallest floor standing mills I've ever seen; the coloumn is about 1400 mm tall (the motor will mount on top of the coloumn, though), table size approx. 220 x 800 mm. There is no moveable quill on the vertical head, but I can live with that, since I've been dreaming of a knee mill for years (yeah, that's me on the picture. I am indeed a lot happier than it seems). Well, question time: Does anybody know anything about this mill? The only text I can find on the mill goes like this: KESI 5726-4-5. It is not written on the base or coloumn, but on one of the cast iron bearing covers on one of the flatbelt shaft bearing housings. Any info or documentation on this machine will make me even happier. Happy machining, Esben, Norway
