Richard provided the following description: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- heya, well I finally got that lathe outta that basement.... Only have some lineshaft to go back for on the weekend!!!! two of us could lift the bed off the legs, and then do 1 meter bunny hops with it up that path, tunnel, and stairs (the worst...no two were the same size). reckon it was 100-125 kilos... phew.. now, can anyone tell me about it...??? the only ID it has is a tiny tag: SIMPLEX MFRS Serial #101 Special License #201 The Precision Machine Co. the gap bed is 5 feet exactly, 5 1/2 inch centre height, about 30 inches between centres, flat belt drive, otherwise, much like the milnes lathe on my website.... came with all the change gears, 2 chucks, bits of 2 o r3 others, a 2 jaw chuck, hand tool rest, and some things still unidentified..... cost: 9 man hours work, 6 bottles of really nice mildara-blass cabernet, hauling away 120 kg of junk to the dump. Oh, and getting the line shafting down i got a drill and grinder head as well... yay! >bounce bounce bounce< wonder if I still feel that way still after I start restoring it? :-) richgoth
