FILENAMES: small_lathe.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a picture of a small German lathe that owner wants information regarding. Posted by Esben Beck . Esben provided the following description: ================================================================= Today, a friend dropped by with this lathe in the back of his car. It's a german Helmut Brüstle model DK. It has drawbars and collet retainers in both headstock and tailstock, and it has two compound slides (one in front and one at the rear of the cross slide). The tailstock, the front compound slide and the cross slide are all lever operated. The apron has to be moved into position manually and locked to the ways before operation. Tool travel during operation is limited to the range of the compound slides. The lathe came with a bunch of collets and a 2-jaw self centering chuck. The bed ways are hand scraped, and they show absolutely no sign of wear. They are something in between flat ways and prism ways, like this: ___________ ____________ / | | \ / | | \ The cross slide and compound slides are dovetailed. All the levers and the two compound slides makes me think of some sort of capstan/second operation lathe. Centre height approx. 32 mm, distance between centers approx. 250 mm. Does anybody know anything about this machine? Any feedback will be appreciated. I traded the lathe for a number of MT drills and a jacobs 5/8" 3MT chuck :-) Regards, Esben
