FILENAMES: L&S_tailstock1.JPG L&S_tailstock2.JPG DESCRIPTION: These are pictures of a L&S lathe needing its replacement tailstock modified to match the headstock height. Posted by sunworshiper . Sunworshiper provided the following description: ================================================================= >Shimming the headstock is the wrong way to approch the problem. If the front >to back is off you should have an offset adjusment built in the the >tailstock, if height is the problem take the amount off the the tailstcock. >Also is the lathe level?? > Guess its picture day. I was gonna wait till I got pictures to ask, but every time I go out in the shop I get caught up into how to solve this problem. Yes, the tail stock is from a different machine. Same company and probably the next model. I'd rather not mess with the head stock, but the only problem I can see would be the change gear handle would be a little off. Thing is, is that its broken anyhow and a replacement is on its way, but from that other machine so probably have to be adjusted anyhow. Scraping? I don't know how to do that! I know someone with a huge mill, but how much to take off the tail stock is beyond me. I get lost on a lot of verbal descriptions here. Kinda like reading a patent without pictures.
