Wayne provided the following description: ================================================================= These are some pictures of a dividing plate I made to fit in the spindle of our lathes. It's got a number of uses but our main use for it is to lay off holes in flanges. I made the indexing pin so that it can be locked in the released position. That allows for easier indexing (you can use both hands to turn the spindle) and it would be possible to use the lathe normally while leaving the indexer in place. Also note that there's a pin in the taper of the drawbar. That's to prevent it from turning while tightening it. I just used a 5/16" endmill to do the slotting of the spindle so the pin can fit in the slots. The arm that the indexing pin mounts on is just held in place on the spindle by a washer placed under the drawbar nut. The split sleeve in one shot is so it can be mounted in different lathes. The spindle is made to fit the smallest lathe through hole and then sleeves are used so it can be moved to larger lathes. That particular sleeve is the one needed to for it to fit the 20"x96" American that is seen in the shots with it mounted.
