FILENAMES: Scans_Turbine.jpg Scans_Castings.jpg Scans_Cold_E_Furnace.jpg Scans_Electric_Furnace.jpg Scans_Grabber.jpg DESCRIPTION: These are pictures of casting related experiments. Posted by Tim M. Williams . The following description was provided: ================================================================= These pictures are some misc. that came in the roll(s) of film we (at last) got developed. (In no particular order, except alphabetical.. ;) Scans_Castings.jpg - Some misc. castings I've made, one was supposed to be a bell, but it came out in the end to a chalice thingy. Wax model was turned on the drill press. Scans_Cold_E_Furnace.jpg - My electric furnace thingy, made with some thin coat hanger wire and some heavy (#8) stranded copper around a small microwave oven transformer. About 8V no-load, it's probably around 300W or so in the pic... Scans_Electric_Furnace.jpg - The electric furnace, hot and glowing. I never really did melt much more than solder and lead in this thing, and even then, really small amounts. Scans_Grabber.jpg - a nice project I did, it uses 1/2" aluminum angle, some 26ga. galvanized steel, and some coat hanger wire, mainly for grabbing charcoal briquets in my furnace (or grill, as the case may be). There's a lot to be done with just a drill press, hack saw and files... (Also, I welded - with that MOT rig and pencil leads - the hinge pins in place. Those welds came out nice.) Scans_Turbine.jpg - A little turbine thingy I made, welded with my pencil lead/MOT rig. Too bad it's really only good for a hot summer's day, I really doubt it could push any serious RPM, not with the quality of my welds. Tim
