Posted by Tim Williams . Tim provided the following description: ================================================================= These are pictures of me and my furnace; 2 or 3 do not involve the furnace, but rather are at our stove (like its 6(!) burners?), and 1 or 2 have my friend, Mark, in them, but anyway - (All start with "Tim_Furnace_" so I will omit that part) (Oh yeah, they're all .JPGs) Blasting_it_up - I had just turned down the blower, and am now blasting it up - looks better in real life. Burning_Down - The furnace glows as it burns down, running out of fuel as it tries to melt (copper, no, red brass?) pennies. Casting - The uncut, fresh-from-the-mold casting; aluminum. Notice the large part - I overflowed.. :) Casting_In_Mold - The casting; I just picked it up off the drag, and it is still in the cope. Crucible - (In our basement) I picture of my "crucible" made of a steel can. :) Glowing - A top-down view of the furnace burning down as the pennies melt. Ingots - (On our dining room table) ingots from my first furnace burning (older picture). Poking_It - I think I was looking down at the furnace, lookin' to poke the melt. Poking_Pennies - Just me pokin' at the fused, but not liquid, pennies. Pouring_Ingots - Pourin' the ingots - notice the silvery trail flowing to the right on the vise... Oh BTW after everything cooled, I got a nice thick plate of cast aluminum from that... :-/ No, no concrete spalled. Pouring_Sand_Mold - Self-expanatory file name. Pouring_Zinc - (Again on the stove) this has nothing to do with the furnace; I just wanted to include it to show y'all my zinc casting. Can't see the flame very well, eh? Shot1 - A good shot of the furnace. There, that should be it. Tim tmoranwms@charter.net
