These are pictures of a two piece vice that goes into a t-slotted
table of a milling machine.

T-slot vise

The plans "vise1plan.gif" and "vise2plan.gif" came from the "Virtual 
Machinist" that at one time had them on line.  The plans actually came 
from a high school set of projects that students could make . . . many 
moons ago.  (Sadly, few HSs have machine shops today.)  16 years ago 
as a volunteer teaching a machine shop course in a local HS I made the 
T-slot vise and took my first shot at surface grinding.  The vise has 
survived 2 separate mills and is still in use today.  I post these 
files for those who have asked for the plans and pix.  (By the way, I 
still volunteer teach at another HSs machine shop . . . and I'm strictly 
a hobbyist.  It's just fun teaching kids and encouraging them to dream.)

Vise1.jpg - Vise is clamped to the table of the mill and is holding a 
chunk of aluminum to be flycut.  The chrome 5/8" wrench I found in a 
junk box.  It fit the square adjusting screw for the movable jaw perfectly.  
(Added some class too!)

Vise2.jpg - Another view of the above setup from the fixed jaw side.

Vise3.jpg - Shows the underside of the vise.  Notice:  I penned the guide 
rods and put the adjusting screw's set screw on the bottom as opposed to 
the top (as per plans) for aesthetic reasons.

Vise4.jpg - Using the T-slot vise to hold a toolmakers vise (that my son 
made for me) to hold a wheel at an angle in order to drill a set screw hole.

Vise5.jpg - Same setup as above from the fixed jaw side.  (Notice I chucked 
the drill in crooked for the picture . . . gotta get them trifocals adjusted!)
