FILENAMES: fps.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a picture of a lathe faceplate needing repair. Posted by Sunworshiper. The following description was provided: ================================================================= The picture should be close to the title in the drop box. The face plate is broken, $25 with the right threads. The main problem is that the collar is .001" smaller and doesn't go back far enough to mate with the spindle. If I cut off some of the theads the end of the spindle will be flush with the front of the plate. The spindle has a taper on the I.D. The best idea yesterday was to put it on backwards on it's own machine and cut it to flip around. Should I wait to do it on the machine it goes on , or get it to fit and how close? Also about the part broken, should I balance it or cut the rest off?
