This is a picture of a small unusual hydraulic press. Posted by

press-1.jpg is a small hydraulic press rescued from a scrapyard.
I'd be interested to know whether this type of press is made for a 
particular purpose.

It looks more like a piece of laboratory equipment than something
from an engineering shop.

There's about 5" of daylight above the ram, and 1" of ram travel.
