Wayne provided the following description: ================================================================= These are pictures of the newest toolpost I've made. This one uses a little different approach to the locking. I started out by milling the step for the retaining plates (you can see the socket head cap screws holding them in place). Then I milled the pocket for the locking gib. After drilling the offset holes for the locking bolts I made the retaining plate and locking gib. I drilled and tapped the locking gib for 3/8"NC and using a couple of pieces of 1/8" stock I shimmed the locking gib so it didn't bottom out in the slot. With it all bolted good and tight I then finished milling the whole toolpost and dovetails. After removing the shims the locking gibs have a lot of travel to make up for any loose dovetails (I've actually started making them rather loose on purpose to make them easier to get in and out).
