FILENAMES: willans-history1.jpg willans-history2.jpg willans-history3.jpg willans-history4.jpg DESCRIPTION: These are photos documenting the history of the Willans company. Posted by Mark Rand Mark provided the following description: ================================================================== willans-history1.jpg is a photo of a Willans and Robinson Engine. I am told that this engine was presented at the Paris Exhibition, but I don't know which year this was in. willans-history2.jpg is _not_ the method of delivery used! This was actually an engine on a float prepared to go to a carnival in Rugby. In the background it the main office building. (I currently work in the office on the ground floor just to the left of the engine :-) willans-history3.jpg is a photograph of the factory taken in 1899. The main office building is of the left side of the picture and facing to the left. The photograph was taken from close to the railway line. willans-history4.jpg is somewhat more recent. It shows an HP/IP turbine module about to set off on its way to the customer. The photograph was taken from the factory roof. All photographs reproduced by kind permission of ALSTOM Power Ltd.
