The following description was provided: ================================================================= I worked with two machinists yesterday. The few t things I learned: 1) Cut out heavy metal parts on the verticle / horizonal band saw before putting them on the mill 2) Squirt cutting oil continually on the band saw blade teeth. 3) Clamp the vice to the table on the drill press. 4) Squirt cutting oil in the hole being drilled. 5) Pull the drill out, clear chips, and squirt oil. [in cnc this is "peck cycle"] 6) To mark metal, clean and paint with layout dye, a dark blue. Then scribe the layout on the blue. 7) When selecting a drill from the chart for a tap, a slightly larger drill will make the job easier, but slightly weaker. 8) The pros frequently change machine speed to get optimum "speed and feed". 9) An individual paying for his own end mills will apply lots of coolant or cutting oil. 10 Measuring depth with the probe that comes out of the tail of a 6" dial calipers is not as good as with a real depth mike:
