Sometimes when the job is small enough I make two fixtures. One I
clamp in the machine vise and machine while the other I'm
unloading/loading. I do this with a 6" vise. A 8" or 10" vise would
increase the size of the plates you can hold like this. This also
picks the plate up off the table a bit. I get overtravel alarms when I
work with stuby tooling close to the table.

The only thing this setup is missing is the workstops to bump the
fixture plates into. I didn't think I'd make enough of these parts to
make it worth making two more fixture plates. Someday when the big
order comes in I'll make them.
