FILENAMES: HLV-B.jpg HLV-B1.jpg DESCRIPTION: These are pictures of a Hardinge HLVH lathe awaiting restoration. Posted by Jim Schwitters . The following description was provided: ================================================================= The associated pictures show an HLV-B I recently acquired and will recondition. While I have it apart, I want to build several shelves into the empty space inside the left pedestal. The speed adjustment handwheel prevents the door from being opened without removing the handwheel so it would not be easily accessible. I'm considering ways of making the handwheel detach/attach easily without tools. A recommendation was also made to cut off the upper right corner of the door and afix the cut-off permanently in position so the remaining part of the door is unobstructed. That may be a good solution. In the pictures, the handwheel is not mounted but you can see the shaft (bent) protruding from the door. The outline of the handwheel is visible from scratches in the paint.
