FILENAMES: Bridgiewiring.jpg DESCRIPTION: This is a picture of electrical wiring on one Bridgeport mill. Posted by Mike Graham . The following description was provided: ================================================================= Bridgiewiring.txt The file 'bridgiewiring.jpg' is a shot of the rather annoyingly complex wiring on my otherwise reasonably normal Bridgeport milling machine. The bottom box contains contactors for the head, one for forward and one for reverse, which run up to a twist-lock jack near the top of the picture, which the head plugs into. Below the bottom box, and regrettably out of the shot, is a 2:1 step-down transformer which was used to produce 220V single phase to run the contactors while the source power was 440V 3-phase. The reversing switch is a 3-pushbutton affair mounted to the head, with "FWD," "REV," and "STOP" buttons. All this to control a 1 horsepower pancake motor. The two large boxes above the lower boxes control the flood-coolant pump, and, believe it or not, the 60W shop light attached to the mill. Somebody spend a ridiculous amount of money wiring this mill, originally. It could all be replaced today with a few simple switches. Mike Graham April 16, 2002
