The following description was provided:

A standard 1 inch square tool holder for indexable carbide inserts 
was modified to directly fit into an Aloris-type toolpost without 
needing the usual tool holder holder.

This allows larger (which is sometimes cheap) tooling to be used 
on a smaller lathe, in this case an 11 inch lathe with an AXA tool 
post. It ought to be more rigid.
