FILENAMES: Swedish_Motor_shaft.dxf Swedish_Motor_shaft.dwg Swedish_Motor_shaft_v9.JPG DESCRIPTION: These are drawings of a special motor shaft needed for repair. Posted by Ernie Leimkuhler . The following description was provided: ================================================================= First the story: 2 years ago Boeing donated a Swedish made plate roller to the South Seattle Comunity College Welding Fabrication Program. It took 6 months to get it delivered, and another year to get it hooked up to power. During that year of limbo it was moved several times by forklift. The last time it was moved was by a dimwitted twit who managed to dump the 1500 lb. machine on it's side shattering the power feed drive motor and bending the motor shaft. I can weld the bits of the motor housing back together, but the shaft is not able to be straightened. So I need a new shaft made. The materiel is simple medium carbon steel. In the attached drawings you will find 3 versions of the same drawing. A DXF(14), a DWG(14) and a JPEG, so hopefully anybody can see what I am getting at. The machine was made in Sweden by Roundo. There is no way of using any US made motor in this location due to size and mounting restrictions. The head of the machine shop at school is a jerk, plain and simple and has no interest in helping us. Looking at the drawing, you will see that in the middle of the shaft there is a straight knurled section. This is where the armature is press fit on. There are 3 snap ring grooves, 3 bearing surfaces and 2 keyways. I tried converting the numbers to metric, but they still ended up as odd sizes, so I left them as inches. What I am hoping is that some kind soul out there is willing to do a little barter trade. If you are in the Seattle area, then you can name your favor in exchange. At school we have a vast amount of heavy forming equipment and every kind of welder. Trying to get the school to pay anything for this is impossible. As long as no money changes hands, we do not need to involve the armies of paper shufflers. Please contact me by email at: ernie@stagesmith.com or by phone at 425-235-2859 425-591-6816
