The associated image: 10EE_Taper_Manual_Typo.jpg is from a Monarch 10EE manual, for my 1966 Modular model. This is posted for other newbies who have the taper attachment. In this page it says to loosen or tighten 'F' when you want to do straight or taper cutting respectively. According to the text, 'F' is the "drawbar clamp screw". The problem is that in the illustration 'F' points at the allen-head cap screw that attaches the leadscrew nut to the underside of the cross-slide body, and should NEVER be loosened! The bolt they really mean is the one shown at the top of the photo, it's a 9/16" hex head bolt, which is actually the cross-slide locking bolt. Loosening 'F' causes severe inaccuracy and random errors in cross-slide position. Neil Rosenberg Neil@innermedia.com
