DESCRIPTION


Photo showing the drive end and carriage of my Hardinge
Cataract Precision Toolroom and Optical work lathe. It
appears that this type lathe was made by Hardinge between 
1912 and 1925. This lathe is S/N 207 meaning it was likely
made early. The overhead motor is a geared motor with four
speeds obtained by shifting gears in the motor gearbox
rather than changing belt pulleys. This does not appear to 
be the original arrangement and was likely an updated scheme.
