A Safe_for_small_kids Hot Dog Cooker Ted_E@telus.net See also picture "Hot_dog_cooker.jpg" Anyone who has had several young children cooking their hot dogs around a camp fire has experienced the fear that one of the kids will accidently wreak serious harm to himself or one of the other kids with the sharp points of the usual hot dog cooker. A visiting friend described this one to me and caused me to head for the shop. The metal rod is a 1/8" diameter, 36" long, 308 stainless steel TIG rod. Before bending, I sharpened one end to a dull, but sharp enough to pierce a hot dog, point. The ruler is 24" long. I put it in the picture to give a sense of scale. The pieces of wood are lengths of broom handle. The white one is drilled for an easy twisting, sliding fit. The green one is a snug fit and is epoxied in place. The hot dog is slipped onto the pointed end axially. The cooker is used with two hands, the white one steadying the thing while the green one is used to slowly rotate the 'dog for even cooking. A dozen of these costs next to nothing and is a great addition to a picnic or camping trip. Enjoy!
