One of my students brought these in today.  He had received 
them from a great uncle or some such.  

The container appears to be brass, maybe four inches square
 and about a quarter inch thick.  The tools (?) themselves are
maybe .025 thick and are very springy  

I have never see anything quite like them a wonder if someone
has an idea of what they are.
