Pictures from a visit to the Paris Museum of Arts and Crafts (Musee des Artes et Metiers). A fabulous museum for gearheads and anyone else interested in technology. A few selected pics that may be of interest: (all filenames start with a&m...) files: a&m... ....rose_engine: the cams from an 18th century rose engine turning lathe. The rest of the machine is equally gorgeous ....airplane: a fanciful early airplane design. The engine for this thing is equally fanciful, but pictures don't do it justice (just looks like a huge can of worms!) I don't think this ever flew. ....cit_engine: cut-away of a Citroen 6 engine ....half_citroen: the whole (half) Citroen 6 ....early_radial: one of the earliest radial internal-combustion engines, integral with the rear wheel of a motorbike ....file_cutter, file_cutter2: hand-cranked machine for cutting files, early 18th century ....shaper1, shaper2: "grooving machine", according to the museum plate, but looks like a shaper to me ....spheres: only one of many amazing turning examples
