planer.txt This is a Thayer & Houghton Planer, built sometime between 1845 and 1865 in Worcester, Mass. Note that the castings are very ornate which would reflect that period in time. Sizes are 18" wide table, 48" long table, and 20" Z-height. The planer is currently disassembled for cleaning, painting. I am discarding the lineshaft drive and belt shifter and updating this with a VFD which will forward and reverse the motor on each table cycle. A micro "brick" PLC will control all the functions such as jog, auto cycle, and a speed control dial for the table fpm speed (sending input to the VFD).
