Bandsaw Blade Welding Jig Bob Harbour 5/3/2005 These two pictures are of a simple bandsaw blade welding fixture that I welded up out of 1/4" hot rolled steel. The base is made of three pieces: A flat plate with two 1/4"-20 holes drilled and tapped in it A Strip that supports the end closest to you in the pictures. A wider strip that sticks up well above the plate to form a guide to push the blade up against for welding. A top piece is screwed down on top of the blade to hold the two ends in alignment against the back strip for welding. Not obvious from the photos, the top of the front strip is about 1/16" above the surface of the plate. This gives better clamping action on the blade when the top piece is screwed down. The whole assembly is about 3" by 3" square. The notch in the top piece is where the welding is done. This is revision 0 of this project. I have not perfected the welding process for bandsaw blades, but the jig seems to work fine.
