Here is a lifting frame I made specifically for the Clausing 5914 lathe. The idea is to get lower headroom than using straps. The device is made from C4 x 7 heavy channel and ¾” grade 5 bolts. There are aluminu pads which protect the critical way surfaces on top, and machined riser blocks which capture the bottom of the bed casting so the device doesn’t slip, plus gives enough clearance for the leadscrew which is actually located under the plane of the bottom of the bed. A ¾” eyebolt tops it all off. Matt Isserstedt mattofivinings@aol.com 05Oct2005
