removing the carriage on a B&S #2 surface grinder requires that both the crossfeed
screw and the automatic feed table drive pinion and shaft be removed by working down
through the top of the base casting.  The grit shields must be moved as necessary.
The lock washer and nut on the pinion can be accessed with the table pushed to the back.
The crossfeed screw cover is a tube that screws into the projecteion around the crossfeed
nut.  It can be unscrewed with the table pushed front, again working through the top
of the base castin, but in back.
