Compass planes are used to fair curves in woodwork.
Both styles shown were originally designed by Stanley.
The ones in the photo are modern reproductions by Record
& Kunz.  The green Kunz is a very poor reproduction despite
being German made.  Bought 40 yrs ago before I knew better.
